About

Explorers were established in 2005 as part of a major refresh of the Scout movement, bringing a modern look and feel to Scouting with new uniforms, new sections, and a fresh approach.

In 2011, Explorers in Bournemouth evolved again when Bournemouth Stour and Avon merged to form Bournemouth District.

Today, five Explorer units operate across Bournemouth:

What We Do

Explorers take part in all the classic Scouting activities—camping, climbing, hiking, sailing, canoeing, pioneering, map reading, team-building, and plenty of games. But that’s just the start!

More Than Just Adventure

While camping and outdoor activities are at the heart of Scouting, the skills you develop as an Explorer can also lead to formal qualifications. Scouting is highly valued on a CV, demonstrating commitment, leadership, and teamwork within a recognised youth organisation.

Explorer Scouts is a charity and relies on fundraising and membership to keep running. We raise funds in a variety of ways, including fetes, bag packing, Gift Aid, online promotions, event support, and donations from organisations.
